MFDS〡 Unique Device Identification in South Korea

MFDS〡 Unique Device Identification in South Korea

Introduction of the UDI system worldwide poses challenges for manufacturers to comply with Unique Device Identification regulations. These obligations are multifaceted, and the path to compliance is highly complex. UDI requirements vary from authority to authority, posing a continuous challenge for companies.

Among these is the South Korean Medical Food and Drugs Safety (MFDS), the agency responsible for regulating and monitoring medical and health products in South Korea.

Its main task is to ensure the safety, accuracy, and effectiveness of these products. This includes the entire lifecycle, from manufacturing to import and registration for the South Korean market.
